About Future Skeletons

James Asmus and Jim Festante are Future Skeletons. I mean, you are, too, but lowercase “f” + “s”.

TOGETHER, James & Jim have created, written, and developed comics, animation, live comedy, and more. Published comics include FIELD TRIPPING for comiXology, THE END TIMES OF BRAM & BEN for Image Comics, and RICK AND MORTY presents: MR. MEESEEKS. Their recent work in animation encompasses developing original concepts and adapting other material.

The pair met as cast members of an improv comedy TAROT LOUNGE show in Las Vegas with headlining runs at the Palms Casino. They immediately bonded over their shared love of "big question, emotional struggle" stories stuffed inside twisted genre storytelling, smothered in loads of surprising and dark comedy.

FUTURE SKELETONS is the result of their constantly coming up with new ideas together, and the desire to explore them in whichever medium is the best fit.

Separately, JAMES ASMUS has won awards for his comedy, comics, and playwriting. He launched his writing career with plays like LOVE IS DEAD: A Musical NecRomantic Comedy and the inspired-by-actual-events modern romantic tragedy HEARTS FULL OF BLOOD. In comics, he rebooted QUANTUM & WOODY to critical acclaim for Valiant, a re-envisioning that's now the basis of a TV adaptation in development by the Russo Brothers (AVENGERS ENDGAME). Other highlights include runs on GAMBIT, CAPTAIN AMERICA, and ALL-NEW INHUMANS for Marvel, KONG OF SKULL ISLAND for BOOM!, TRANSFORMERS: BUMBLEBEE and MY LITTLE PONY for IDW, and co-writing original horror EVOLUTION and THIEF OF THIEVES for Skybound (the latter with Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman). For TV, James has also scripted episodes of MARVEL'S VIDEO COMICS cartoons for Disney, as well as written and produced shows for History and Discovery networks.  He lives in Portland, OR with his wife Mara and two boundless kids, and remains excited for the next new creative challenge.

JIM FESTANTE has written for various networks including NBC, Comedy Central, MTV, and Syfy, as well as media outlets The Washington Post, NBC TODAY, Discovery Networks, and Slate Magazine. His episodic series ANTI-SOCIAL, which he wrote and produced, was selected as a Sundance Lab finalist. Comics include THE END TIMES OF BRAM AND BEN (Image), RICK AND MORTY PRESENTS: MR. MEESEEKS (Oni), FIELD TRIPPING (Amazon/ComiXology Originals), and SURVIVAL STREET (Dark Horse). He’s also written official cookbooks for gaming companies including BioWare (MASS EFFECT), Naughty Dog (THE LAST OF US), and Bethesda Game Studios (STARFIELD). As an actor, Jim has starred in national commercials, was a recurring sketch performer on NBC’s LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O’BRIEN, recurred on ABC’s GENERAL HOSPITAL, and appeared on TV and original series for ABC, NBC, MTV, and Comedy Central. He was an improviser for many years with UCB in venues throughout NYC, LA, and Las Vegas, as well as opening for “Weird Al” Yankovic. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Emily, their super fun kid, and a couple of yappy little wiener dogs.
